How It Started: Founded in December 2020, Vancerts began as a bold concept to bring music to people in the midst of the pandemic, when traditional venues were shut down. The idea was simple yet revolutionary: convert a van into a fully equipped mobile concert venue, allowing artists to perform live in any location, from neighborhoods to breweries, offering an intimate and memorable experience for audiences.

Where did the inspiration come from and how the idea for hosting live band performances from a van using a generator and PA system came about?

The inspiration behind VANCERTS came from a deep love for live music and a desire to create unique, accessible experiences for both artists and audiences. The idea sparked during the pandemic when traditional venues were closed, and artists were struggling to find places to perform. I realized that by using a van equipped with a generator and a PA system, we could bring live music to unconventional spaces—whether it’s a brewery, a neighborhood street, or an open field. It’s all about keeping the music alive, no matter the circumstances.

As the host handling the artist booking, do you have any tips or suggestions to share with musicians regarding approaching you or other hosts about booking a gig?  Do’s or don’ts? How they could better their chances of getting booked?

Absolutely. First and foremost, be genuine and passionate about your music. When reaching out, have a clear and concise pitch—tell us why you’re interested in performing with VANCERTS, and what makes your sound unique. Do your homework; if you can show that you understand what VANCERTS is about and how your music fits into our vibe, it goes a long way. On the flip side, avoid being too generic or sending mass emails—personal connections matter in this industry. And always provide links to your music and social media; we need to hear and see what you’re about before making any decisions.

How do you discover and select the bands or artists that perform at VANCERTS, and what criteria do you consider when making these choices?

We’re deeply committed to supporting the indie music scene, and discovering new talent is one of the most exciting parts of what we do. We scout artists through local shows, social media, and recommendations from the community. When selecting artists, we look for those who are passionate about their craft, have a unique sound, and are excited to engage with audiences in unconventional settings. We prioritize authenticity and creativity, ensuring that the artists we feature align with the ethos of VANCERTS—raw, real, and relatable music.

VANCERTS is often described as an intimate and immersive live music experience. What do you feel is the significance and impact of this intimate atmosphere for both the artists and the audience?

The intimate setting is truly what sets VANCERTS apart. When artists perform in such close proximity to their audience, there’s an unfiltered connection that you don’t often get in larger venues. The energy becomes more palpable, and the experience more personal. For the artists, it’s an opportunity to see and feel the direct impact of their music on the crowd. For the audience, it’s like being part of something special, a memory that sticks with them because they were part of the moment, not just spectators. This intimacy fosters a sense of community and makes each performance unique.

What are your plans for VANCERTS, and how do you see the concept evolving?

Our vision for VANCERTS is to continue expanding our reach while staying true to our roots. We want to bring our mobile concert model to other cities, introducing the concept to new audiences and supporting local music scenes across the world. We’re also exploring partnerships with brands and festivals to create even more unique experiences. Ultimately, our goal is to keep pushing the boundaries of live music, making it accessible and memorable for everyone, while nurturing the next generation of artists.
